Electrum Supply celebrates 10 years of taking the tattoo industry by storm

It all started with a batch of Green Gold mixed in a five-gallon bucket in an Indiana basement.
Electrum was born 10 years ago from a desire to create a better tattoo product.
Rob Smead, who was working as a tattoo artist in a shop at the time, found the stencil products on the market weren’t holding up to his standards. He would apply a primer only to find the artwork would smear or fail to transfer completely. So he did something about it.
Rob researched stencil primers and the chemicals that are commonly used – he was even invited to join the American Chemical Society in the process – and formulated what is now sold as Electrum Gold Standard Stencil Primer. Electrum has since sold more than 100,000 items from its Gold Standard line.
But why stop there?
It was clear Electrum was offering something different, so Rob and Andi Smead launched Electrum Supply in 2015 to provide a better experience for tattoo artists.
The company is run by professionals with working knowledge of the industry, and every product is made by tattoo artists for tattoo artists.
Even as Electrum continues to grow, its commitment to customer service has never wavered. Every order is packed with love and good vibes –a message that's handwritten on the side of every box that leaves the warehouse in Goshen.
Since 2012, Electrum has processed more than 50,000 orders and supplied premium tattoo products to shops in more than 200 countries.
Electrum also manufactures its own line of tattoo and medical products, including cartridges, aftercare accessories, an FDA-approved anesthetic, a new line of inks, and (of course) stencil products.
“It takes a lot of blood, sweat, and tons of sacrifice to make a small business work and become successful, especially in a field as competitive and harsh as the tattoo supply business,” Rob said. “As for the future of Electrum, we just plan to keep climbing the mountain, five steps at a time.”
